A.E.C. Photography Vernissage.

After 2 years of hard work with a full-time job and full-time school, I've finally graduated from Dawson's Commercial Photography program! :D

If I had to do it all over again, I'd spend more time in the studio on weekends to get more practice. Unfortunately, my laziness has got the best of me so I stayed in to sleep! Ha!
The experience has been great despite some health set backs. If I had been more healthy, I would have done better that's for sure.

I wanted to take some time today, to invite you to my vernissage tomorrow December 15th at 6.30 pm at Dawson College.

I also want to take this opportunity for those who have encouraged me throughout these 2 years. This includes my family, ex work colleagues and friends. Thank you to my mini-models and their parents. I wouldn't have made it without you!

Cheers,
Rina

Costa Rica - Summer 2009

On May 31st, I travelled to Costa Rica for one week during which I stayed at Villas Sol Hotel in Guanacaste.

Costa Rica is Spanish for rich coast. As such, one can expect to find this place to be the ideal tropical paradise. What will you find in CR? Diverse landscapes, flora, and fauna. From rain forests, to dry tropical and temperate forests, to volcanoes, to Caribbean and Pacific beaches, to high mountains, and marshy lowlands.

It was an amazing trip! I'll be posting more images in the near future!
Cheers,
Rina

Assignment # 3 - The Photo Story

In Christianity, baptism is the ritual act, with the use of water, by which one is admitted as a full member of the Christian Church. On Sunday April 19th, I had the opportunity to be the photographer for Olivia Miranda Clemente's baptism.

The godmother is dressing the child while entertaining her.

Olivia taking a break before wearing her shoes.

Pictures are being taken by the family members.

Godmother and father dressing Olivia.

Mother and father ready to leave the house to baptize Olivia.

Notre-Dame-de-la-Defense church. Priest is a reading of a selection of bible passages and prayers.

The priest pouring water three times over Olivia’s forehead saying three times, Olivia, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

Godparents are given the candle on behalf of their godchild. They light the candle from the large Easter candle. The Easter candle represents the resurrected life of Christ and by lighting their godchild's candle from this they are showing that they will guide their child to share in the life of the resurrection.

The priest preaching how extremely important the role of the parents is. Parents are not seen as owners of their child but as custodians whose role is to bring their child to happiness.

Leaving the church – family members gathering to take pictures.

Carmelina my beautiful pregnant model!

On April 7th, I went to my colleague's house to take pictures of herself and her beautiful family.
My source of light? My external 430 EX II flash and 2 tungsten lights. I use to love tungsten but now that I've seen flash, I hate it!!! Lol!

Here's a montage of my shot.
